Yes it's legal. You just have to have the permit for the gun and it has to be worn in plain sight.

The whole purpose of carrying one is to let it be known you are. ;)

I agree to an extent, having a ccw will give more carrying and transporting privaleges. In Florida it's a pain to have a gun in your car w/o getting in trouble unless you have the ccw. Also many states recognize each others ccw so if you go out of state and take your gun again you are less likely to get in trouble. I don't have my ccw but thats cause I never mailed the paperwork in but took all the classes. Out here you see guys on their motorcycles with guns strapped on and when the Prez came to town we had people openly carrying guns outside protesting his healthcare reform.

Apparently neither did the macomb county sheriff until a lawyer shoved it up his ass to the elbow and it has become slowly known. This is legal in a lot of states. They dont want people to know that of course.

If you get pulled over, the first thing you should tell them is that you have a gun and just let them check everything. Sweet! It looks like the restrictions for carrying one in the open are almost the same as concealing one.
